SummerStage at The Outfit now includes three summer programs for young actors!
The anchor program of SummerStage at The Outfit, the Main Session is a month-long performance-based program designed for kids ages 10 to 15 who are serious about theater, but also looking for a summer filled with fun, friendship and performance skill-building in a nurturing environment.
A typical day at SummerStage includes rehearsals for the musical, as well as classes in everything from costume design to special effects make-up to acting workshops which expose students to a variety of techniques. All Summer Stage classes, workshops and rehearsals are instructed and directed by Atlanta-area theater professionals who are experts in their artistic fields.
All 2017 SummerStage Main Session participants will be cast in SHREK THE MUSICAL, JR., which will be staged with professional production values on the Theatrical Outfit stage. Performances will take place: Friday, July 28 at 7:00pm, and Saturday, July 29 at 2pm and 7pm.
Scholarships available. For scholarship application, contact Mira Hirsch, Education Director at firstname.lastname@example.org. Scholarships are awarded in the order that applications are received. For best opportunity, please apply early.
Starting with a visit to the nearby Center for Civil and Human Rights, MAKING A SCENE involves devising an original theatrical piece about contemporary and humanitarian issues. Using materials from the museum’s exhibits as content, participants will learn to use theater as a tool for social change by creating and performing a work which gives voice to issues that are important to them. The program will culminate with a performance of that work on Friday, June 30 at 5pm.
This one-week program focuses on scenes and songs from popular Broadway shows. Participants will rehearse music and choreography and will be coached in scenes from musical theater favorites. Additionally, students will take part in a variety of workshops involving improvisation, technical theater and acting techniques. BROADWAY BOUND culminates with a revue-style performance for family and friends on Friday, June 23 at 5pm.
