GENERAL AUDITIONS

Theatrical Outfit currently does not hold general auditions but instead attends the yearly spring Atlanta Unified Auditions sponsored by the Atlanta Coalition of Performing Arts. If you attended Unifieds on March 31 and April 1, 2014, trust that your work was seen by a Theatrical Outfit casting representative. You do not need to resubmit a head shot and resume.

Auditions are by invitation and appointment only. Non-invited local AEA actors wishing to be seen may request an appointment or try for a "walk in" appointment on 4/27, and we will try to see you - time permitting. AEA casting notice:

Non-AEA actors not specifically requested by casitng may submit a head shot and resume to auditions@theatricaloutfit.org for consideration. Audition slots are very limited. Please do not self-sumbit unless you fit a described role. 

Please note: Theatrical Outfit is interested in actors with signficant stage experience/training in theatre. 

PREPARATION:

Upon appointment confirmation, you will be sent sides to prepare.  Please bring 2 headshots and resumes to your audition. 

PRODUCTION INFORMATION 

REHEARSALS BEGIN:  January 20, 2015
SHOW DATES: February 12, 2015 – March 1, 2015. 
Possible extension to March 15, 2015.
SHOW TIMES: Thursday-Saturdays at 7:30pm, Saturdays & Sundays at 2:30pm

Theatrical Outfit (www.theatricaloutfit.org) operates under an SPT 8 contract with Actors’ Equity Association. We do not supply housing to out of town actors.

SHOW DESCRIPTION: Astonishing personal and professional discoveries await real-life American astronomer Henrietta Leavitt (1868-1921) as she challenges the male astronomers of Harvard and her era and discovers the stars in galaxies beyond our own.

Set in Cambridge,MA from 1900-1920. Characters are based on actual persons.

All roles available. None have been pre-cast.

CASTING:

Henrietta Leavitt  - 30s, female, Caucasian, brilliant, meticulous, excited, almost always wearing a period hearing aid

Margaret Leavitt - 30s, female, Caucasian,  homebody, creative, sweet, sister

Peter Shaw - 30s, male, Caucasian, the head astronomer’s apprentice, the man

Annie Cannon - 40s, female, Caucasian, the leader, terse and sure, grows into a firebrand

Williamina Fleming - 50s, female, Caucasian, smart as a whip and fun, Scottish

Audition Information

Theatrical Outfit’s Mission is to employ Atlanta-based talent.

Auditions are held on a show by show basis and are open to Equity and Non-Equity actors.

Check Equity Hotline for up-to-date Casting Notices.

Equity Members are encouraged to schedule audition appointments.

Equity Members without appointments will be seen as time permits between and after scheduled appointments.

Non-Equity Actors will be seen at Directors discretion and based on schedule availability.

Sides and scripts will be available at Box Office for one-hour sign-out.
