D: Kirsten's Wedding Lunch

Posted on September 15, 2011

Kirsten Capitano, our Office Manager, is tying the knot on September 25 to Ben Watley, who manages an Apple store. Today was her last day in the office before the big day because she's traveling to Florida for the event. As an office, we -- and by "we," I mean Jenn -- decided to throw a surprise lunch for Kirsten here at Theatrical Outfit to see her on her way and wish her luck.

It was a beautiful spread. We had deviled eggs (which Tom Key goes crazy over; he lights up like a child receiving a rifle for Christmas... although, I don't know if guns as holiday gifts are really a thing anymore), fruit salad, turkey wraps, olives, hummus and pita chips, cupcakes and mimosas. Only in an arts organization could we have mimosas during lunchtime. (I must admit this was my first mimosa experience and I found it tasty.)

Kirsten told her story of meeting Ben, which I will now retell here. Probably poorly.

Kirsten was a freshman at Covenant College and Ben was a Junior. He was dating one of Kirsten's roommates at the time and Kirsten could not stand him. They butted heads and did not enjoy each other's company -- much as one would expect to find in any romantic comedy, or a pair of flirty thirteen year-olds. Summer came and went and Kirsten lived with the same girl, but Ben and that girl were no longer together. Sparks slowly start to fly between Kirsten and Ben until eventually they're together and she's moving out of this awkward rooming situation. Not to worry though, Kirsten and said girl are still friends and Kirsten will actually be in this girl's wedding. Funny how things work out.

Back to the festivities. To prepare for this event, Jenn, Hally and I all stopped at Publix, which had a surprisingly disappointing selection of ready-made dishes such as the food I listed earlier. So we went to the Edgewood Kroger. Total success. We even got Kirsten some pretty desk flowers.

Overall, I think we all had a fun time. It was a great way to bid adieu to Kirsten Capitano and we're all looking forward to welcoming Kirsten Watley back in October. Lunch club and bank walks will not be the same without you.
