Thank You Turner for Turner Volunteer Day!

Posted on September 22, 2011

The Turner Volunteer day was a huge success. The volunteers and supervisors got everything on the list done and a number of other items as well. They were like lightning 'clean and organize' in a bottle.

In four hours, 25 Turner employee volunteers and three Turner supervisors did the following:

Power washed sidewalk
Scraped gum off sidewalk
Painted/ darkened lettering on stars
Painted basement hallway from elevator to theater
Painted basement SL hallway
Organized and cleaned furniture storage
Photographed and documented all of our prop furniture
Cleaned dressing rooms, restrooms, basement hall, break room, green room
Cleaned up gala dishes, glasses, garbage in rehearsal hall and break room
Cleaned break room floor
Broke down the gala cardboard boxes for recycling
Emptied all garbage bins to alley dumpster
Removed old acoustic panels
Broke down old acoustic panels and stocked the fabric and wood
Installed new acoustic panels - supervised by Larry Richards of Gay Construction (who we really, really love a lot - thanks Tommy!)
Replaced ceiling tiles in basement hall - also supervised by Larry
Removed rotted foam and fabric from prop bed
Organized and cleaned main office closet
Installed new shelves and repaired old shelves
Organized recycle and storage station at top of stairs
Shortened toilet chains so chains won't stick and tanks won't keep running
Cleaned walls
Hung posters in Green Room
Sculpted a number of statues for Freud's Last Session

Turner also purchased the acoustic panels, the power washer, the shelves, paint supplies and cleaning supplies.

We owe a special thanks to all the supervisors who kept everyone busy and productive:
