Lost in the Cosmos Workshop “By the Book”

Saturday, February 25, 2017 10 am – 1 pm

A Masterclass in performing plays derived from literature.

Directed by Mira Hirsch, TO Director of Education, this workshop coincides with Theatrical Outfit’s staging of National Book Award winner Walker Percy’s Lost in the Cosmos. Workshop participants will rehearse and perform a classic short story in the “Word for Word” style, in which every word of the story’s text is included in the “script!”

Simply Simone Workshop “Reflect the Times”

Saturday, April 1 st 10 am – 1pm

A Masterclass on devising social-Issue theatre.

Performer and activist Nina Simone famously said “An artist’s duty, as far as I’m concerned, is to reflect the times.”

Under the direction of TO Director of Education Mira Hirsch, workshop participants will devise and perform a short theater piece reflecting historic and current issues of social justice. Music, movement and text will be combined to create a riveting piece of theatre.
