Clifton Guterman is an actor, director, teacher, casting director and member of the Atlanta theatre community since 2001. He formerly served as the Alliance’s Artistic Assistant and as Casting Director and National New Play Network Producer in Residence at Actor’s Express, where he is an Associate Artist and Teaching Artist. He is a member of the Advisory Committee for The Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards (The Shulers), sits on the Atlanta Area Actors’ Equity Association Liaison Committee, and is the Artistic Advisor for Audition Revolution. Education: BA in Drama, University of Georgia; MFA in Performing Arts, Savannah College of Art and Design.
Directing: I Love to Eat and The Laramie Project (fall 2019), both at Theatrical Outfit. As Associate Director: The Barber of Seville (Atlanta Opera Studio Tour). As Assistant Director: Big Fish, The Light in the Piazza and Silent Sky (Theatrical Outfit); Sweeney Todd and Serial Black Face (Actor’s Express). As an actor, Clifton has appeared locally with the Alliance, Actor’s Express, Dad’s Garage, Synchronicity, and The Outfit. Regional appearances include: Arena Stage, Berkeley Rep, California Shakespeare Theater, San Jose Rep, Weston Playhouse, Barrington Stage, and The O’Neill Center. He has appeared in numerous Atlanta-shot films, TV shows, commercials, and industrials and is repped by Houghton Talent.
Clifton is from Iron City, a teeny tiny town in southwest-GA. He and his husband Chad live in Ormewood Park and are obsessed with their two Schnauzers.
