In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Theatrical Outfit, we are seeking to raise $500,000 through the NEXT50 Campaign.

The campaign has a two-fold purpose:

  • To allow for continued artistic excellence through the establishment of a Creative Catalyst Fund through which innovative and more expansive artistic endeavors can be pursued
  • To provide long-term financial sustainability through the establishment of a Cash Reserve Fund

The History & The NEXT50 Campaign

For 50 years, Theatrical Outfit has produced some of Atlanta’s finest and most compelling theatre.Deeply invested in Atlanta-based  artists, the company has become a nationally recognized creative hub for supporting exceptional talent such as Danielle Deadwyler, Kenny Leon, Steve Yockey, Lauren Gunderson, and Terry Burrell; for producing stellar theatrical works, as evidenced through its 250+ awards and nominations; and for having deep community ties demonstrated by its reach of serving over 700,000 audience members.

The world has shifted and changed in countless ways over the last half century, and yet Theatrical Outfit has remained a trusted and beloved cultural fixture in the Atlanta arts landscape. From its humble beginnings in 1977 in a converted laundromat in the Virginia Highlands, to TO’s permanent home in the Balzer Theater at Herren’s (and the many places in between), Theatrical Outfit has consistently produced and commissioned art at the vanguard of the theatre industry that centers Atlanta artists and catalyzes important conversations with audiences and
communities around the world. As we look to the next 50 years, that commitment to artistic excellence, creative exploration, and investment in Atlanta talent will only grow stronger.

The Next50 Campaign will allow Theatrical Outfit to remain at the apex of the theatre industry, to create art that centers and supports Atlanta’s theatre creatives, to bring national and international attention to Atlanta’s art scene, to increase its impact on Atlanta’s Downtown renaissance, and to share transformative art with audiences and communities around the country. For the next 50 years and beyond.
